Paul Heaton & Jacqueline Abbott: Crooked Calypso - 2017

Up next was this one, which again makes use of a myriad of musical styles to back Heaton’s issue-driven lyrics. Of the four albums, however, this is the one that grabs me the least, although I can’t really put my finger on why that should be. After all, it is a really impressive quartet and none are really that much better or worse than the others. Highlights are She Got The GardenHe Can’t Marry HerI Gotta PraiseThe Fat ManYour Bit Of Stuff and the Irish-influenced Blackwater Banks
