Bob Dylan: Triplicate - 2017
Just when one thought two "Sinatra Project" albums were more than enough (however nice) from Dylan, along came this three CD monster.
It takes the form of three separate albums. Comprising three separate CDs of ten tracks and at thirty minutes or so each, it is actually an extremely homogenous listen, save for one upbeat, jazzy swing number on each "album".
It is those livelier tracks that grab my attention the most, however, I'm finding the others all very similar - all beautifully played, attractively sung by an underrated Dylan voice (admittedly an acquired taste) and all sounding very much like The Night We Called It A Day from Shadows In The Night. It is a sleepy, relaxing, peaceful album that is worth dipping into, like the others, when the mood takes you. I can't say much more than that - the songs or their performances don't really require analysis. There's certainly no work for even the most amateur Dylanologist here, is there?
Sure, as on the two previous albums in this style, Dylan's voice is croaky, but therein lies the album's appeal, for me.
