The Who: The Who Sell-Out - 1967

This awful, supposedly psychedelic creation was an offering from The Who that I just could never enjoy.

I found it puerile, ridiculously indulgent and pointless (all those ludicrous and irritating jingles and radio commercials) and was most definitely a real low point in the band's career for me - although many people love it, considering it their best album.

Good God almighty, It's a crock of absolute rubbish. (Don't worry - I  will get more positive on subsequent albums!). It is only this and The Beach Boys' Smiley Smile that has found me in such condemnatory mood. I normally look for the positives in all albums.

Redeemed only by the excellent psychedelic and beautifully bassy single I Can See For Miles, the album's effect on me is one of it being totally unlistenable. However hard I try and however many chances I give it - and there have been many -  the result is such that I simply can't be bothered to review it, so I won't. Oh, and I hate the cover too.
