MARVIN GAYE

From teenage doo-wopper via "the black Sinatra" crooner wannabe period and then to being an outspoken, independent socially-conscious thinker to finally a conversion into a bearded Barry White-style love man, Marvin Gaye's Motown career was a real musical journey. He scored lots of hits - poppy danceable ones, syrupy, orchestrated ballads, aware issue-driven funky numbers and soulful smoochers. There's something for everyone here.

Marvin was also a great duetter and here I have covered his 1973 hit album with Diana Ross and three releases with Tammi Terrell.
